There is something about being in the middle of nowhere, a vast desert, a dense rainforest or the crumbling rock face of a mountain that leaves you in awe of Mother Nature. It's this feeling of awe that Gareth strives to reproduce with his camera.  Being completely self taught and using a fully manual camera, Gareth’s style tries to capture not only the geography of a place, but the mood through the use of light, timing and composition.

For the past 12 years, a love for travel and thirst for adventure have seen Gareth circle theglobe many times. Financed on the back of a White Water Rafting career, he has found himself racing down rapids on over 30 of the world’s largest and most formidable rivers in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, Iceland and Peru.  It was while floating through some of the most spectacular gorges and witnessing places so wild that the only way to see them was via the river that Gareth developed his passion for photography, capturing moments and places rarely seen by others. 

Frustrated with the confines of 35mm photography, Gareth took the leap to large format photography in 2006. An unforgiving medium reserved predominantly for the professional photographer.  Gareth’s large format 5x4 inch slide camera enables him to reproduce huge photographs of landscapes showcasing their brilliant colours and elegant spirit down to the most minute of details.

With 9 trips around the world under his belt, Gareth decided to shift his focus to his home of Australia.  Here he travelled the country searching out photographs that would not only show the beauty of Australia but also convey the feeling that you get when you venture into this ancient and spiritual land.  Often camping for days to wait out hostile weather for the one chance to capture Mother Nature in her finest hour.  

The wilderness is his home, extreme adventure,  his passion.   Combining the two - the results will be a collection of spectacular photographs, from angles never attempted, and through the eyes of someone who won't accept impossibility, as excuse to downgrade to the second best photograph.
